Almonte Public Library Expansion Design Guidelines

Description: The Almonte public library has reached max capacity and is in need of a major rehabilitation given the age and condition of the building. The library requires significant more space in order to contiue to serve the community. Situated on the site of the historic Almonte Railway Station, the heritage of the site is loosely reflected in the design of the current library. The Design Guidelines identify various elements that are important to consider in the redevelopment project including community vision, site conditions, spatial and functional program and the heritage value of the existing building and site.
Grain Elevator to Brewery Conversion Study

Description: The grain elevator in Belleville, ON had not been used for grain handling for a number of years. The elevator and its annex were identified by a local brewer as a potential site for a new brewery. On-site investigations indicated that the conversion was feasible however required substantial financial investment to adapt to its new use. As-built condition drawings were prepared for the client in addition to a detailed condition assessment report.
Re-imagining Wooden Grain Elevators in Saskatchewan

Description: Wooden grain elevators are an important part of the cultural landscape on the Canadian Prairie. On a large scale, grain elevators are a product of the national rail network that shaped Saskatchewan as a province and Canada as a nation. On a small scale, the elevators are an architecture that has evolved from functionality to monumentality, deeply rooted in the identities of prairie communities and their people. From a place for grain to a place for people, adaptive reuse promotes a new life for the wooden grain elevators. The adapted architecture of the grain elevator will generate social interaction that promotes co-operation, strengthens community, and ultimately creates sustainable, vibrant prairie communities.
Glebe Neighbourhood Heritage Conservation District

Description: This project is part of phase II of the development of heritage conservation districts in the Glebe neighbourhood. This research includes gathering information on the unique historic houses along Clemow Avenue and their notable residents as well as composing architectural descriptions for the houses of interest. This research will be used as part of the proposal for the City of Ottawa.
Wolseley Main Street Schematic Design

Description: The town of Wolseley Saskatchewan was once an important centre for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Harnessing the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of this unique community, the heritage design project proposes a public open space for events and as an accessible showcase of the important CP railway history.
